Meet the Artist
Hi there, it’s me, Jessie. How lovely it is to have you here.

I’ve been a creative being for as far back as I can remember, always keeping my two little hands active. As a child, I did not have much of a preference when it came to art, just being able to create something was always enough for me. As I grew, that only continued. I started to seek creativity as a way of releasing myself from whatever was going on in my head. Some call it self-expression, or perhaps painting how you feel…with me though, it was more of a freedom that I had found in the creation of absolutely anything. I wasn’t crafting to express myself but more to quiet what I was dealing with in the outside world as well as my own brain. I think that’s why I have such a love for so many art forms. Once I get good at one thing, I need something new to hyper-focus on to continue to silence my own thoughts, then I’ll go back over time and continue to elevate my skill with each one, hyper-focusing in a new direction once again. Fast forward to the present day, and though I do have some preferences in what I usually choose to craft, I still find myself to be a jack of so many trades; it’s probably one of my favorite things about myself, the options remain limitless.

As this business of mine has developed, as has the art forms as well as myself. Fresh out of college, I planned to be a graphic designer, honing that craft yet realizing the effects of providing that service to the public weren’t in alignment with me as a person. So I soon picked up playing with resin about a year before I launched this business. That random purchase at Hobby Lobby has now led to me creating one-of-a-kind resin floral preservations for brides from all over, realistic resin beach scapes, magical feeling resin crystal geodes and so much more. Resin in itself feels limitless to me, as it also always requires focus and constant evolution, something it has in common with me.

I have also recently started playing with textured art as it carries a theme I’ve seen in most of my pieces; yes, texture. I love a piece where you can feel it just as much as you can see it, adding to the experience of art as a whole for the viewer. Another theme I’ve found is inner connection. It seems as if no matter what I create, there is always an underlying concept to it. Whether it depicts loneliness or happiness, calmness or chaos, it makes me truly giddy when a viewer is able to elevate themselves all due to connecting to something my two hands morphed, a thread emerges that then ties them to me.

In its simplest form, art is the only constant I’ve ever had because creating is what I do to seek peace out of my own inner cages. It’s a joy and an honor that these creations of mine have found a safe space with you, sparking a fire inside my inner child and what an artist you are to create such a feeling within me.

So welcome to MESSIE by Jessie...and thank you.
Stay Messie,
Jessie

THE MISSION
My mission in creating will always be to continue to free myself, and to learn more about myself and the surrounding world but what's now been added to that is the mission to also allow you all to feel heard, seen, and less lonely. I can accomplish this by simply being me, by creating pieces that not only look good but make you think on a deeper level. There is almost always a lesson learned that lays the foundation for a true art piece for me and I will never stop aiming to share what I've learned through the most beautiful form of communication I've come across. I aim to be here for you through constructing my thoughts onto canvas and allowing you the freedom to craft them into your own.
